New York, 6 February 2012 — Young people around the world are deeply concerned about a lack of job opportunities and are calling for an increase in investment in this area, according to the latest World Youth Report, issued today by the United Nations.

In the aftermath of the economic crisis, the global youth unemployment rate saw its largest annual increase on record in 2009, resulting in around 75.8 million unemployed youth.

Сегодня в Посольстве Российской Федерации в Бишкеке состоялась встреча, посвященная результатам сотрудничества Российской Федерации и системы ООН в Кыргызской Республике по оказанию содействия в 2011 году в постконфликтном восстановлении республики. В ходе встречи также рассматривались планы сотрудничества на ближайшую перспективу.

Во встрече принимали участие Чрезвычайный и Полномочный Посол Российской Федерации в Кыргызской Республике Валентин Власов и дипломаты Посольства, Постоянный Координатор системы ООН в КР Александр Аванесов, Руководитель Аппарата Президента КР Жанторо  Сатыбалдиев, Министр иностранных дел КР Руслан Казакбаев и главы учреждений системы Организации Объединенных Наций в КР.

В последние несколько дней в средствах массовой информации, в различных рассылках через Интернет и электронную почту, отдельными неправительственными организациями Кыргызстана распространяется искаженная информация о  деятельности Программы Развития ООН по оказанию помощи Кыргызской Республике  в сфере   борьбы со СПИД, туберкулезом и малярией.  

Информация представляется в искаженном виде, подается неконструктивно и не содержит  достоверных доказательств. При этом  полностью игнорируются важные достижения трех грантов, которые ПРООН успешно реализует.

November 3-4 – EU-UNDP New Legal Framework Project in partnership with OSCE/ODIHR, Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan, OHCHR, Venice Commission and GIZ assisted in organizing several meetings to help improve the work of the Council on Selection of Judges and work out solutions for overcoming problems faced the Council.  Several international experts took part in the meetings.  Part of these activities was an educational training on “Strengthening of independence of judicial system through procedure of selection of judges” for members of the Council and its Secretariat as well as national experts.  Five international experts from Russia, Estonia, Denmark, Lithuania and two national specialists were invited for the training.  Learn more from Gulmira Mamatkerimova, Project Manager ( gm@dgov.undp.kg).

October 6 – The Steering Committee on Capacity Development Facility (CDF) project was held to coordinate the activities implemented under the project.  Key partners of the project: senior officials of the President’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, representatives of Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan as well as DGP discussed completed and planned activities of the project. В связи с многочисленными просьбами о продлении сроков (особенно из регионов Кыргызстана), мы с удовольствием продлеваем последний срок подачи работ до 10 февраля, 2012 года. В конкурсе может принять участие любой, кто на данный момент проживает в Кыргызстане!

Конкурс плаката и фотографии призван визуализировать процесс, принципы, задачи и другие составляющие местного самоуправления. Работы в рамках конкурса станут агитационным (эдвокаси) и образовательным инструментами, как для широких слоев населения, так и для лиц, принимающих решения.  В стране не хватает «визуального материала», способного на долгие годы вперед «держать в фокусе» проблему, пока не сформируется устойчивая культура государственного управления, четко разграничивающая центральный и местный уровни.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (November 12, 2011) – During her two-day visit to Kyrgyzstan UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS Kori Udovicki met with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva.

Presidential elections were held on 30 October in the Kyrgyz Republic—a poor, landlocked country in post-Soviet Central Asia. This vote will be Central Asia’s first presidential election in which the incumbent faithfully respected a fundamentally democratic constitution.

In a region where both elites and societies often associate electoral competition with instability and disorder, Kyrgyzstan’s elections show that—as in the Arab Spring countries—accountability to society is essential to good governance.

This Year UN Day is Devoted to the International Day of Peace and UN’s Peace building Efforts in the Country

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (October 24, 2011) – Today the Small Hall of the Toktogul Satylganov Kyrgyz National Philharmonic Hall hosted the official celebration of the UN Day with participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva. This year UN Day is devoted to the International Day of Peace and UN’s peace building efforts in Kyrgyzstan.
