Бишкек, Кыргызстан (20 января 2010 года) – Анализ прессы, проведенный агентством «Изилдоо Плюс» по заказу Программы ПРООН «Поддержка Правительства в ответе на ВИЧ в КР», показал, что количество материалов, информирующих жителей регионов о вопросах ВИЧ и СПИДа, сократилось за последние три года с 34% до 27%. В центральной прессе, несмотря на некоторые улучшения, сохраняется тенденция использования приемов сенсационной подачи материалов, а также употребление дискриминирующих и стигматизирующих терминов, что ослабляет эффективность ответа страны на пандемию.

UNDP Programme on HIV/AIDS and NTRBC agreed to cooperate and launched the first Resource Center for journalists to cover issues about HIV/AIDS and related social topics.
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (1 December, 2009) – Today, on the World AIDS Day, UNDP Programme “Support to the Government in Response to HIV in the KR” and National TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation signed a Memorandum of cooperation and officially launched the first Resource Center in the country, which will help the media to cover topics on HIV/AIDS and other related social problems.

UNDP Program “Support to the Government in Response to HIV in the KR” suggests improving legislation to strengthen mass media response to HIV epidemic.
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (Oct. 29, 2009) – Amendments to media and advertising legislation aimed at improving well-being of the nation and addressing state and social interests will be discussed on November 2 at the round table in Park Hotel, Bishkek.
Organizer of the event, UNDP Program on HIV/AIDS, invited representatives from Presidential Administration, Government Office, Parliament, key ministries, civil society organizations, mass media and donor community. Participants will discuss amendments, which suggest a better spell-out of the role of mass media and public advertising in educating and promoting healthy lifestyle.

New York, USA (March 31, 2009) - The United Nations General Assembly this morning unanimously approved Helen Clark of New Zealand as the new Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) for a term of four years.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon nominated Helen Clark last week to replace outgoing Administrator Kemal Derviş of Turkey.
“Helen Clark was selected, amongst a group of excellent candidates, for her outstanding qualifications and numerous accomplishments in her long career,” said Michèle Montas, the Secretary-General spokesperson, in an official statement.

UNDP Calls on G-20 Leaders to curb a full-fledged human development crisis.
New York, USA (March 31, 2009) – The current global economic crisis, which began with the severe strains on the financial and banking system in parts of the developed world, now risks triggering a human development catastrophe in the world’s poorest countries. As the leaders of the richest nations set off to London for the G-20 summit this Thursday, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) warns that those most vulnerable to the crisis are living outside the spotlight and their predicament should be addressed at the table.

I am very pleased to celebrate with you the UN World Day of Social Justice. It is a particular honor for me as it was Kyrgyzstan’s initiative with the UN General Assembly that led to the resolution declaring 20 February the UN World Day of Social Justice, which we are celebrating today for the first time ever. Because of the importance of the topic and because there are many different entry points on what Social Justice means, I would ask your patience while I work through some of the ideas that the team here in the United Nations House of Kyrgyzstan have put together.

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (November 20, 2008) - UNDP Programme “Support to the Kyrgyz Government to respond to HIV” jointly with the State Agency on Religious Affairs under the conducted seminar titled “Religious leaders and HIV/AIDS issues”. During the workshop 20 religious leaders and young spiritual activists were trained on different aspects of HIV/AIDS including the issues of psychological support for people affected by the epidemic. Based on the 5 years work experience in this area, specialists of the State Agency on Religious Affairs conducted the seminar in accordance with the unique training program adapted to major religious postulates, local traditions and based on international experience.
