Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (January 21, 2011) – On January 18 and 19 UNDP Kyrgyzstan Acting Resident Representative and Deputy Resident Representative Pradeep Sharma met with the Minister of Youth Affairs Aliyasbek Alymkulov and Head of the State Directorate on Reconstruction of Osh and Jalal-Abad Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev. The meetings were part of the series of consultations with national partners of UNDP on key development issues of the country.
DRR Pradeep Sharma informed the Ministers on the preparation of a new Country Programme Document (CPD) for the next programme cycle (2012-2016) within the UN Development Assistance Framework, which is also to be renewed. Officials also discussed latest progress of the joint projects.
In the Ministry of Youth Affairs, parties discussed priority areas of cooperation – building internal capacity of the Ministry, as a newly established institution, and assistance in developing of the national strategy of youth outreach. UNDP has already launched activities aimed at strengthening capacities of regional branches of the Ministry, youth wings of political parties and youth initiative groups which will continue in 2011. “It is very important to develop leadership skills of Kyrgyzstan’s youth and foster their active participation in the decision making process,” noted Pradeep Sharma. Minister Aliyasbek Alymkulov confirmed that he fully supports the implementation of the planned projects.
Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev and DRR Pradeep Sharma discussed joint activities carried out in the south. Parties shared their visions of future cooperation: peace building and effective community outreach were identified as key areas in 2011.
During the meetings, the members of Government agreed with the key priorities reflected in the planned CPD and pledged to provide necessary support in implementation of all joint projects and programmes.
