Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (March 13, 2012) – First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Aaly Karashev met with UN Resident Coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexander Avanessov.
During the meeting parties exchanged views on priorities of cooperation between the Kyrgyzstan, UN system and UNDP within the new programme cycle of 2012-2016.
Parties also discussed priorities for expert and technical assistance in implementation of the Stability and Decent Life programme, 100 Days Plan and other national strategies and programmes of development.
Both sides stressed the importance of achieving national indicators of the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 to reduce poverty, achieve universal secondary education, reduce child mortality and improve maternal health, fight HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and other diseases, as well as promote environmental sustainability, gender equality and effective partnerships to protecting human rights.
They also exchanged views on preparation of proposals for participation in regional and bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan in the interests of Kyrgyzstan, on an integrated approach to socio-economic development of the regions, districts and communities of the country, as well as the ongoing co-operation on the problem of uranium tailings.
Specific steps were identified and agreed on all discussed matters of cooperation.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the traditionally high level of partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic Government and UN agencies, including UNDP.
