The project is aimed at mainstreaming modern communication technologies in public healthcare.  It is piloted in the remotest province of the Kyrgyz Republic – Batken province, which is experiencing deficit of qualified medical personnel and proper medical diagnostic equipment.

The project demonstrates unique potential of using modern communications technologies to make people’s life easier, especially for vulnerable people living in remote areas and people with physical disabilities.  Using communications technologies gives a way to provide high quality medical service through distant diagnostics and prescription of proper treatment.  Proper diagnostics helps to identify diseases in early stages and assign timely treatment, which can help decrease mortality rate.

Two leading centers – National Center of Cardiology and Therapy and National Maternity and Childcare Center are taking part in the project through providing highly qualified medical doctors.

This project is implemented by the Democratic Governance Programme in close collaboration with the Ministry of Healthcare and Ministry of Transport and Communication with the financial support of the UN Democratic Governance Thematic Trust Fund.
